We are looking for well experienced Ethnic Food Cooks for Cleese Catering located at 11 Carlaw Ave Toronto, ON M4M 2R6, Canada.

Job Duties:

Prepare, season, and cook a full range of authentic Sri Lankan dishes including rice varieties, curries, sambols, roti, hoppers, string hoppers, and desserts, following traditional recipes and portion guidelines.


Present dishes attractively with proper garnishing while preserving authentic Sri Lankan flavors and presentation standards.


Prepare a variety of appetizers, main courses, side dishes, and accompaniments as per the menu, special orders, and seasonal offerings.


Accommodate customer requests, including dietary needs or spice-level adjustments, while maintaining consistent taste and quality.


Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of all food orders during service.


Train, mentor, and guide kitchen assistants and helpers in Sri Lankan cooking techniques, food preparation, and safe kitchen practices.


Plan and organize mise en place each day to ensure ingredients and tools are ready for efficient cooking.


Maintain proper daily set-up of the Sri Lankan food station, including requisitioning, stocking, and arranging all necessary fresh ingredients, spices, condiments, and utensils.


Handle, label, store, and rotate all ingredients properly to ensure maximum freshness, minimize waste, and comply with food safety standards.


Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment and machinery such as grinders, blenders, and ovens used in Sri Lankan food preparation.


Monitor ingredient inventory, prepare requisitions for supplies, and assist in stock control to avoid shortages or overstocking.


Follow strict hygiene, sanitation, and health regulations in all food preparation and storage areas to ensure a safe dining experience.


Clean, sanitize, and organize all workstations, utensils, and storage areas after each shift, ensuring the kitchen remains orderly and ready for the next service.



Prerequisites:

Education: Secondary school or equivalent
Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in food industry Language: English


Hourly Rate: $36.00 to $ 38.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
