Job Summary:
SGGG Fund Services Inc. (SGGG-FSI) is currently seeking to fill a full-time permanent position for the role of Private Equity Associate. The successful candidate joining SGGG-FSI’s Private Equity team will be energetic, enthusiastic and reliable, and will have the opportunity to learn and grow with our organization.
Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor, the Private Equity Associate is primarily responsible for producing and/or reviewing Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for assigned private equity, private debt, and real estate funds in an accurate and timely manner.
The position is also responsible for tax preparation, audit preparation, assisting with financial statement preparation, responding to client queries, and other duties as assigned. Other duties include contributing to or leading department initiatives/projects as required. As a member of SGGG-FSI’s Private Equity team, you will continually develop a working knowledge of private equity, private debt, and real estate funds and the private equity sector. Using that knowledge, you will collaborate with other members of the team and members of other departments to establish the underlying tools and processes required to ensure the success of SGGG-FSI’s private equity offering.
Duties:
• Preparing NAV calculations for assigned funds (private equity, private debt, and real estate funds), ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Reviewing NAV calculations prepared by other team members
• Supporting critical functions such as tax and audit preparation, financial reporting, and client communication.
• Examining accounting records and preparing financial statements and reports
• Preparing taxes, examining financial accounts and records, audit packages, and other deliverables as required
• Planning, setting up and administering accounting systems and preparing financial information for departments/ the business
• Responding to client queries and maintaining positive client relationships
• Collaborating with staff or external parties to establish, maintain, or improve tools and processes
• Creating and maintaining process-related documentation
• Training new team members as required
• Contributing to or leading department initiatives/projects as required
• Developing a professional and productive relationship with SGGG-FSI staff
• Keeping management informed of all issues that could have a Customer impact
• Working to continually improve the processes associated with the assigned functions
Requirements:
• 1- 2 years of fund accounting experience
• 1-2 years of prior accounting experience in a similar domain
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required
• CPA or CFA designation is strongly preferred reflecting the technical and regulatory demands of the position (we are an approved CPA training facility for those pursuing)
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
• Experience with MS Word and other MS Office applications
• Clear and fluent communication skills bother written and verbal
• Superior attention to detail
• Ability to work with minimal supervision to prioritize and manage work
• Ability to work as an effective member of a team
