Sunbeam Lodge is looking for One (1) Personal support worker (nursing care) to perform duties, including the following:
• Adhere to established department policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environment, and infection control
• Assist in the maintenance of a clean, safe environment. Some typical activities include making beds and cleaning bedside units, collecting and bagging soiled linen, sorting clean linen, emptying bedpans, removal of unsafe objects, etc.
• Keep resident rooms clean and tidy, restock resident baskets, ensure resident personal items are labeled.
• Assist in the preventative program and proper care of nursing equipment
• Assist with meal service to residents and assist with feeding as required
• Behaviour documentation as required
• Communication with other team members
• Encourage participation in recreation and fitness programs by preparing residents for and assist them to and from programs
• Communicate any required changes in care plans to the House Manager
• Provide emotional and social support to residents
• Under direction with training and knowledge, perform selected procedures such as collecting specimens
• Upon instruction from RPN/RN, apply topical lotions and creams and record in treatment record
• Consult with and inform the House Manager of house activities, needs, and problems related to resident care
• Report all unusual findings i.e. rashes, bruises, redden areas etc. to House Manager maintaining resident confidentiality
• Under the direction of the House Manager, provide activities of daily living to promote comfort and safety of residents
• Support clients with all their daily hygiene practices including feeding, bathing, skin care, toileting, mouth care, dressing and undressing, and grooming including shaving, nail, and hair care
• Charting activities of daily living in resident’s care notes
• Follow bathing protocols pertaining to residents
• Clean tub, shower and chairs as per policy
• Clean nail clippers as per policy
• Weigh residents and record in monthly weight chart
• Provide physical assistance to residents as required
• Attend shift and house meetings
• Complete all mandatory training as assigned
Terms of Employment:
• Salary: $34.07 per hour
• Permanent, Full Time/ 40.00 Hours per week
• Start date: immediately
Skills requirements:
• Language: English
• Experience: minimum 6 months of training or experience
• Education: Some secondary school education and on-the-job training or a personal support worker, nursing aide or health care aide college or private institutional program, or a college nursing orderly program and supervised practical; Completion of specialized courses such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid an asset.
