Position Description

A temporary full time (1.0) Athletic Director/PHE Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. The assignment will be at North Peace Secondary School.

North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) is a vibrant, dynamic and diverse school community consisting of two campuses that supports 1200 students. Qualifications and Experience

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)

Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the secondary level

Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students

Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills

Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.

Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community

contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student

feels a sense of belonging

Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn

Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition

Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning

Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity

Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity

Flexibility to adjust to other course assignments as dictated by

course demands (minimum requirements of a minor in a teachable subject

at the secondary level as recognized by the BC Ministry of Education)

Major in PE

Integration of computer technology into the learning environment

Committed to working with staff on the school plan with professional development

Experience/knowledge of AFL

Experience/Training/Knowledge of UDL strategies

Strong interpersonal communication

Ability to manage relationships with coaches, school administrators, and the public

Skilled at providing motivation and direction to the coaches

A resourceful leader that delegates tasks effectively

Strong analytical, administrative, and multitasking skills

A proven track record with creating and overseeing an athletic department's strategic plan

At a minimum, the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in sports management, health, physical education, or other related fields

Knowledge of fundraising and promotional events

Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)

Compensation

$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas

$2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)

Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576

Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
