Under the direction of the Utilities Supervisor, the Pipefitter performs various duties relating to the construction, maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater systems.
This position will perform the following duties:
Laying water mains, locating and repairing mains and connections, installing and repairing hydrants and valves, maintenance and repairing of pumps
Tapping, grading and laying of sewer pipes, repairing breaks, clearing blocked sewer mains, repairing and construction of manholes and catch basins
Assisting in unloading of materials and making sure all materials are booked out with Stores and accounted for
Assist and operate mechanical equipment
Direct, supervise and train assigned employees
Operate City-owned vehicle
Responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding and abiding by the Citys Safety policies and applicable OH&S legislation
Follow all rules and regulations set forth by AWWA and Saskatchewan Environmental Standards
Available to work weekends and shift work as required
The ideal candidate will have at a minimum:
Grade 12 education or equivalent
Passed Level I & II Water Distribution exam
Passed Level I & II Wastewater Collection exam
Able to work in confined space
2 years experience in Water & Wastewater
3-A Drivers License or able to obtain
Ability to obtain certifications for: Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Confined Space, H2S Alive, First Aid and CPR training, WHMIS; Rigging Training; Safe Trenching & Excavating Code of Practice; Fall Protection.
