Job Description

APT Transport Inc. is looking for 20 Long Haul Truck Driver for full-time permanent position. Following is the job description and requirements. If eligible, please contact APT Transport Inc.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

Type of trucking and equipment
Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer

Weight handling
Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Personal suitability
Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Excellent written communication, Organized, Reliability, Team player

Transportation/travel experience
Long-haul, National, Provincial/territorial, Regional

Documentation knowledge
Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation, Trip reports


Tasks
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Load and unload goods, Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Perform brake adjustments, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Perform preventive maintenance, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Transport and handle dangerous goods

Transportation/travel information
Drive manual transmission vehicle, Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight
