Role Overview:
We are actively searching for a dynamic and enthusiastic Bookkeeper to join our thriving team. As a Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth financial operations of our transportation company. Your exceptional attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and ability to analyze and manage financial data will be instrumental in optimizing our financial processes and supporting our overall business goals. What will you do in this role?
• Accurate recording of all financial transactions in the accounting system, ensuring proper classification and adherence to accounting principles, with a focus on transport-related expenses such as fuel, maintenance and logistics.
• Record income, expenditure and other financial activities in a detailed and organized manner
• Regularly update and reconcile the general ledger to reflect the current financial position of the transport services.
• Establish a systematic approach to ledger maintenance, ensuring consistency and completeness in the recording of financial data relating to transport operations.
• Prepare and record invoices for payment related to transportation services, and verify the accuracy of each transaction.
• Calculate and process employee salaries, wages and benefits, including industry-specific compensation or bonuses for transportation personnel.
• Accurately calculate and remit taxes, insurance and other withholdings for employees and contractors.
• Prepare workers' compensation forms and other industry-specific government documents related to the company's operations, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and legal requirements.
• Promptly prepare and issue invoices for transportation services provided to customers, including clear and detailed information about services provided, miles travelled, and any additional charges incurred during the transportation process.

Expected Qualifications
• Completion of a college program in accounting, finance or a related field or completion of two years from a recognized educational institution in accounting-related fields is required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in administrative, clerical accounting, record management, financial service support and/or related field.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, and maintain general ledgers.
• Ability to establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, essential for maintaining precise financial records and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to conduct complex financial analyses and provide actionable insights.
