Duties:
• Patient examination and assessment, request and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures;
• Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients health (both mentally and physically);
• Administer and prescribe medications and treatments as required;
• Administer preventative and treatment vaccinations to patients;
• Provide patients with advice, counselling and guidance on a wide range of health care, including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention;
• Provide pre-natal and post-natal care;
• Act in a patient advocacy role;
• Coordinate or manage primary patient care;
• Provide continuous care to patients, including the supervision of home care services;
• Report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases to governmental authorities.
Education:
Medical Degree and ability to be licenced by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta
(“CPSA”).
Must hold or be eligible to apply to the CPSA for the Provisional Register Conditional Practice as a
General Practitioner or be recognized as a specialist in Family Medicine.
Desirable Additional Courses Undertaken:
Sexual Assault or Domestic Violence;
Aesthetics;
Diabetes and Endocrinology;
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support;
Paediatric Advanced Life Support;
Interest in Aviation Medicals and being licenced for the same is an asset.
Experience:
Five years or more of General Practitioner and Family Physician experience;
Specific experience and skills are required in:
o Emergency and family medicine;
o Internal medicine;
o Orthopedics;
o Minor surgery procedures (lump/lesion excisions/Botox injections);
o Intra-Articular Injections;
o Pediatrics;
o Obstetrics and gynecology;
o Acute and Chronic Medical Conditions;
o Minor surgery.
At least three years of experience:
o Rural Outreach Clinics and/or occupational injuries.
Skills: Proven experience of Medical Practice Management, previous experience with computerized Medical Records management, such as EHR Systems.
Salary: CAD $420,000 to CAD $540,000 per annum – Fee-for-Service model.
Hours: 40 hours per week
