Education & Requirements:
Completion of 2-3 years college program in animal health/veterinary technology is required;
And
Registration with ‘Provincial animal health technologists' or veterinary technicians' associations is Assets.
Job Duties:
• Able to provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
• Produce radiographs and collect samples as required.
• Perform laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of animal health problems
• Assist veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, administering and by cleaning up after surgery
• Prepare medications and vaccines under direction of a veterinarian
• Provide bandage care and may require hoof trimming for animals.
• Educate and advise clients on animal health care including nutrition and home care
• Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
