DUTIES
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Make sure the truck is in proper working condition before setting off & perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every trip.
- Oversee the condition of your vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
- Assist in loading goods on the truck and ensure they are stacked, tarped and secured properly.
- Take inventory of loaded goods to make sure that the correct quantity is loaded.
- Maintain and complete daily log-books using electronic data systems.
- Transport goods over long distances; check on cargo at every stop during the long haul and in accordance to DOT requirements.
- Plan travel schedules and routes, use atlases and other trip planning aids.
- Drive as a two-person team when necessary.
- Maintain courteous and cordial relationships with shippers and receivers through good timely communication.
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
SKILLS
Valid (Class 1) Driver's Licence
* No experience necessary, we will train
* Current CVOR in good standing - no less than 30 days old.
* Current Criminal Record Search - we can assist you with this.
* Ability to read, write and speak English.
