Job duties:
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand the specifications of the part to be manufactured.
• Set up the machine by Inputting program data, such as tool paths, speeds, and feeds, into the CNC machine's control panel and installing and securing the workpiece, tooling, and fixtures.
• Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
• Operate the CNC machine, monitoring its performance, and adjusting as needed to ensure precision and accuracy.
• Inspect the produced parts for accuracy and quality. Use measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure that the dimensions and tolerances meet specifications.
• Change and adjust the cutting tools, making sure they are properly installed and aligned.
• If the machine encounters errors or issues troubleshoot the problems, diagnose the causes, and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts to keep the CNC machine in optimal working condition.
• CNC machinists follow safety procedures, wear appropriate protective gear, and ensure that safety protocols are adhered to by others working in the area.
• Document the production process, record measurements, and maintain logs for traceability and quality control purposes.
