We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to add to our growing team of skilled professionals. As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to, installing various brackets and hangers to provide support for electrical equipment, repairing and replacing lighting fixtures as needed, and expertly handling electrical control and distribution equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will also be tasked with completing any special projects assigned to you with the utmost precision and attention to detail.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

-Regularly conduct life tests (burn-ins) on assemblies and maintaining the quality of the product. It's essential to conduct a thorough examination, testing, adjustment, and assessment of each assembly to ensure they meet the prescribed standards and tolerances. Ensure that the product functions as intended and meets customer expectations.

-Ensuring the proper functioning of electrical appliances including building, calibrating and repairing them regularly to avoid any mishaps or accidents.

-To generate, construct, and evaluate equipment, which in turn can generate and distribute power effectively.

-Support ongoing research activities and meet the necessary technical requirements. This may involve performing experiments, analyzing data, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining relevant equipment. The goal is to advance scientific knowledge in these domains by providing high-quality technical support.

-Ensure that the electrical and electronic systems are correctly installed, utilized, and maintained to ensure their proper functioning and safety. Adequate installation and usage procedures should be followed, and routine maintenance should be performed to prevent system failure or malfunction.

-Assemble operational or experimental data and aid in the creation of estimates, timelines, budgets, specifications, and reports.

-Install and perform maintenance on fire alarm systems, data cabling and HVAC unit control systems.

-Perform electrical work, including repairing lighting fixtures, installing new switches and outlets, running new circuits, controlling wiring, and providing estimates for such works.

-Install, troubleshoot, and perform preventative or scheduled maintenance for all electrical and control systems.

-Assist with connecting power to communications equipment, signalling devices, and heating and cooling system and work together to ensure everything is connected correctly and functioning as it should be.

-Possess the necessary skills and expertise to diagnose and resolve any electrical issues that may arise competently. One should be capable of accurately identifying and rectifying all electrical problems efficiently and effectively. The ability to complete such tasks is of utmost importance in ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical systems.

-Establish and maintain close collaboration with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure the successful completion of any construction project. Effective communication and coordination among these professionals are crucial in achieving the desired outcome, which requires careful planning, resource management, and timely execution of tasks.

-Ensure that all safety and regulatory requirements are met to ensure the well-being of individuals and compliance with laws and regulations. It is crucial to thoroughly evaluate and implement measures to guarantee that all standards are met, and appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks or hazards.

-Interpret and prepare engineering drawings and specifications.

-Any additional duties assigned as necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities.


EDUCATION:

-Completion of a program in the related field (electronics) would be an asset but not mandatory.

-Relevant Certification (completed or in-progress) would be preferred. *Depending upon the evolution of provincial law, relevant certification might be required.

EXPERIENCE:

-Experience would be an asset but not mandatory.
