Job Description:
As a Cook at Long Term Care Facility, they play a crucial role in the commitment to delivering exceptional care to residents. They will be responsible for preparing and serving appetizing and nutritionally balanced meals for residents, taking into consideration their dietary requirements and preferences.
Duties:
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods for residents, ensuring they are both nutritious and flavorful.
Collaborate with the Facility Manager and dietary team to plan weekly menus that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Manage and monitor food inventory, placing orders as needed to maintain a well-stocked kitchen.
Supervise kitchen helpers.
Oversee kitchen operations.
Prepare special meals for residents with specific dietary restrictions or preferences.
Ensure the quality and presentation of meals meet our standards.
Be flexible in adapting to changes in the menu or special requests from residents.
Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to food preparation and kitchen safety.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including cleaning dishes, equipment, and kitchen surfaces.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Cook in a similar setting (long-term care, healthcare, or hospitality industry) is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A commitment to providing nutritious and appealing meals to residents.
Flexibility in adapting to changing menus and dietary requirements.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
Working Conditions:
This position may involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to ensure resident meal schedules are met.
Locations:
The candidate will be working at different locations in British Columbia.
