DRIFTWOOD RESTAURANT (PARKSVILLE) LTD.is a now member of the Driftwood Restaurant Group on Vancouver Island. The restaurant features captivating oriental ambience, fresh, hand-crafted Chinese cuisine, All-You-Can-Eat buffets, as well as local menus that are tailored to the community. The restaurant now is offering dine-in, takeout and delivery services. Now we are hiring for the COOK position that will be overseeing the kitchen operations during working and be responsible for the food preparation and quality, safety and hygiene, stock and supplies, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for buffet stations and individual customers
• Participate in developing and adjusting regular and seasonal menus based on customer demands and develop special menus that are tailored to the local community.
• Determine the daily and weekly menus, estimate food needs and cost, closely monitor ingredients stocks and qualities.
• Closely monitor the buffet station during service hours and promptly replenish food trays to ensure sufficient food for customers as well as minimize wastes.
• Keep track of and maintain inventory levels for ingredients, supplies and equipment.
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers, train and supervise new cooks or assistants as needed.
• Handle food properly, maintain kitchen and work area clean and organized to ensure food safety and hygiene standards and working efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school
• Cook in a commercial setting is an asset
• Mandarin and Cantonese is an asset
• Organized and attention to details
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently
• Being reliable and a team player
• Physically demanding and repetitive tasks
