Job Summary:

As a Procurement Associate, you will assist in the purchasing of materials, supplies and services at favorable terms for the organization. You will qualify vendors, evaluate bids, and negotiate prices and terms for purchased goods and services. You will also track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information.

Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Providing reports, evaluations and recommendations concerning assigned portfolio of projects in various countries, including Canada;
• Leveraging the organizations buying power, obtaining goods/services required by the organization including Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.) and Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production.), accessing new suppliers, guaranteeing supply, etc.;
• Responsibility for Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration, Supplier Performance Management and may include, strategic sourcing;
• Identifying, researching, and evaluating suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply, per our supplier guide;
• Recognizing and evaluating sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices;
• Assessing supplier's products to ensure that it complies with specifications and meets the organization's quality standards;
• Ensuring the safe and secure warehousing of incoming shipments;
• Analyzing and evaluating supplier bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations; negotiating prices and delivering conditions; and committing to purchases (within established limits of authority) with terms that are in the organization's best interest;
• Interpreting inventory requests, production schedules, purchase requisitions, orders, and other documents to co-ordinate purchasing activities in view of current and anticipated demand for goods and materials;
• Monitoring the quality and timeliness of materials and goods supplied; following up the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; and communicating status of orders with internal customers;
• Fostering a climate based on positive employee relations, accountability, respect, dependability and a customer and team focus;
• Complying with all Company policies and procedures;
• Working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and internal policies and procedures. Understanding health and safety rights and responsibilities;
• Arrives fit for work, wearing all required personal protective equipment and reporting any hazards, defects, accidents, and incidents immediately to a Supervisor.
• Reporting any risks and incidents of harassment and violence;
• Promoting and providing a safe and heathy workplace. Ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies. Understanding and operating within the duties of supervisors and owners under the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• Taking every reasonable precaution for the protection of self and co-workers. Addressing risks, hazards, and unsafe behaviours immediately; and
• Actively supporting and responding to Joint Health and Safety Committee and employee recommendations and reported issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in technology, science, or commerce or other related field required;
• Minimum 4 plus years of purchasing experience or other related experience required;
• Previous experience working in the label printing industry or other related industry;
• Extensive knowledge of pressure sensitive materials used in label printing;
• Previous experience in Supplier Management, Vendor Relationships, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Manufacturing Quality, Cost Accounting is an asset;
• SAP or Oracle knowledge is preferred;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written);
• Strong negotiation & organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and tactfully handle stressful situations;
• High level of initiative. Ability to work independently and be self-directed and self-motivated;
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and positive attitude, attentive to detail; and
• Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
