Job Duties:
• Drive and operate truck-trailer as a team for long haul deliveries.
• To obtain and handover documents required to transport goods from and to the person concerned and ensure proper documentation before leaving.
• Follow Hours of Service regulations (E-Logs)
• Promptly deliver customer freight and update dispatch on ETA’s
• Plan trip logistics in advance
• Record the trip details, fuel consumption and driven miles to match with our system
• Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain logbooks
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes and other equipment before every trip
• Perform in-route inspection after scheduled intervals to maintain road safety and Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements.
• May be able to perform emergency repairs, if needed.
• To take all necessary safety precautions in a situation of breakdown of truck at highway like emergency lights etc.
• Maintain contact with Dispatcher, Colleague drivers and customers via on-board communication device.
• Periodically take the vehicle to designated mechanic for through checkup and to promptly report any fault in vehicle.
Job Requirements:
• Completion of high school is preferred
• Class 1 Driver’s License
• Experience as Long-Haul Truck Driver would be an asset but not mandatory
