Matt’s Home Services is seeking a Painter for Greater Vancouver area. It is a full-time, permanent position, 30-40 hours/week, offering $36.60/hourly and 2 weeks of vacation to start. Health and dental benefits.
As a Painter, you will be expected to perform the following duties:
• Read specifications to determine quantities of materials required
• Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer
• Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture
• Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment
• Measure, cut and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls
• Assemble and erect scaffolding and swing stages
• May advise customer on selection of colour schemes and choice of wall coverings
• May provide cost estimates to clients.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in residential and commercial painting
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint application techniques, and use of related tools and equipment
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
• Must be able to communicate clearly in English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension)
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, and supervisors
• Must be physically fit and capable of standing, bending, lifting, and working at heights or on ladders as needed
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Must be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends or evenings, depending on project needs
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• High school diploma is required
• Valid driving licence is required.
